Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP and Former State Minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake claim that he will temporarily step down from politics until those who have struggled for system change bring about a change. Dissanayake made these comments at a press conference held by the SLPP.

Accordingly, MP Wimalaweera Dissanayake also said he will not run for re-election. He said he is giving in to the needs of those engaged in the struggle to remove politicians such as himself from politics.

He challenged those who struggled for a system change to implement such a change and said he will sit in the background and watch the so-called change happening.
