Sajith Says Help Is Hard To Come By For Sri Lanka: Wants IMF To Strictly Monitor Corruption Vulnerabilities

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said Help was slow to come by for Sri Lanka because of the fear of funds being mismanaged.

Premadasa made these remarks in the wake of the controversy related to Japanese aid in Sri Lanka.

However, the Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka has made it clear that the Japanese Ambassador has not stated that Sri Lanka will not be considered for further assistance “due to mismanagement of aid.”

“The IMF’s program includes “addressing corruption vulnerabilities”. I think that should be the most important and strictly monitored condition of the bailout,” Premadasa said.
