Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris ordered a handwriting sample to be obtained from UPFA MP Wimal Weerawansa's wife Shashi Weerawansa, with regard to the inquiry on the alleged incident where she had obtained two passports submitting forged documents.

The Magistrate directed the samples to be obtained under prison custody in the presence of the court registrar.

He also ordered the Government Analyst on Questionable Documents to examine the handwriting and submit a report.

The next hearing of the case was fixed for March 18.

Shashi Weerawansa was arrested in February last year over the charge of obtaining diplomatic and general passports illegally. She had allegedly submitted birth certificate with forged names and dates of birth to obtain those passports.
