Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga blamed the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division for summoning Sri Lanka cricket captain Angelo Mathews to obtain a statement, despite the fact that they visit some former politicians at their residences to record statements.
The FCID could have visited Mathews at his residence and obtained a statement, he added, speaking at an event in Jaffna Central College on Sunday.
Mathews was summoned to the FCID on January 19 to obtain a statement on the match fixing scandal. The FCID recorded a statement regarding offers made to Kusal Perera and Rangana Herath by bookkeepers during the recent West Indies tour of Sri Lanka.
