The rally organized by the UNP against "evil forces" attempting to undermine the government is to be held at Hyde Park, Colombo, in a short while.

Namal Rajapaksa posted a picture with his brother Yoshitha on Facebook a short while ago. "Good to have my brother back home. Thank you for all the support during the past 44 difficult days." he captioned the photo.

Yoshitha was released on bail today by Colombo High Court.

Friends and family, including cousin Russell Crowe, have remembered cricket great Martin Crowe at a funeral service at Auckland’s Holy Trinity Cathedral.

During his eulogy, Martin's brother and ICC Match Referee Jeff Crowe noted with some awe and puzzlement Crowe's abilities as a writer. Today is the International Women's Day, celebrated around the world from 1909. Interestingly, it started as an event organized by the Socialist Party of America. The 2016 theme for International Women’s Day is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. The United Nations observance on March 8 will reflect on how to accelerate the 2030 Agenda, building momentum for the effective implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals, the UN said. A group of people at Rathupaswala today protested against the arrival of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for a meeting in the area. The people asked if Rajapaksa was arriving to see the healed wounds of the villagers.
