A 50-year-old man was arrested by Mattakkuliya Police for attempting to bribe the Acting Officer-in-Charge (OIC) to allow drug dealing in the area.

The suspect contacted the Acting OIC on October 16, seeking permission to operate within the police jurisdiction and offering a monthly bribe of Rs. 100,000. The Acting OIC reported the incident to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Subsequently, CIABOC officials arranged a meeting at the police station, where the suspect was arrested while trying to hand over Rs. 50,000 as a bribe.
