Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said he would not present the CEB’s request to increase electricity tariffs to the Cabinet as the CEB does not assist renewable energy generation plans.

“The CEB should allow renewable projects to proceed and reduce generation costs rather than increasing tariffs to pay their own salaries,” Wijesekera said.
