The Airline Pilots Guild of Sri Lanka has confirmed that there is no evidence to verify that MP Arundika Fernando operated as a pilot in Sri Lanka.
Making a speech in Parliament, Fernando said his record as a certified pilot in Sri Lanka had been destroyed as his house was burnt down by angry mobs on May 09.
Both the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Pilots Guild clarified that Fernando had never worked as a pilot under them.
However, the Pilots Guild claimed that Fernando had once appeared for the aptitude test to be recruited as a pilot but had failed to get through the test.
