Cololmbo HC Grants Bail To Aloysius And Ravi A Day After President Pledged To Take Action Against Culprits Of Bond Scam

Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige today (05) ordered the release on bail of former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Arjun Aloysius, head of Perpetual Treasuries, over a case filed by the Bribery Commission.

Indictments were handed over to the two defendants in open court when the case was called today.

The development took place a day after President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa pledged to take action for perpetrators of the Bond scam and the Easter Sunday attacks.

The two suspects — Karunanayake and Aloysius — were released on a cash bail of Rs. 500,000 and two sureties of Rs. 50 lakhs each.

The High Court judge ordered that the fingerprints of the accused be taken. They were also barred from travelling abroad until the end of the trial and that their passports be handed over to the court. T

The judge also ordered that a copy of the order be sent to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration and the Katunaike Airport.
