Train services on the up-country line have been disrupted due to mounds of earth and rocks falling onto the tracks between Badulla and Bandarawela, Sri Lanka Railways reported.
The District Disaster Management Coordination Unit of Badulla said that severe weather has also blocked several key roads in the region. Landslides, collapsing mounds of earth, and fallen trees have caused significant obstructions.
Affected routes include:
- Badulla-Bandarawela road near Uduwara Milk Factory
- Haputale-Beragala road
- Badulla-Passara road near the third milepost
- Spring Valley road via Kadhana in Badulla
- Badulla-Passara main road near the seventh milepost
- Bibila-Lunugala road near Arawakumbura
Police have advised motorists to use alternative routes until road clearing operations are completed.
