Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera says electricity will be supplied to all households by the end of this year. Out of the total households 92.2 percent have been supplied with electricity. Power was supplied to 224 thousand 738 houses alone after the present government came into power. 

The connections have been given without charging a basic fee and a payment for setting up the cables. The number of houses that do not have power at present is 41,174. Out of them majority of households are situated in Kurunegala district. The deputy minister urged the owners of houses that are yet to obtain electricity to forward their applications as soon as possible. He stated this in reply to a question raised by parliamentarian Nalin Bandara in parliament today.
