Yesterday was the 4th day of the committee stage discussion of the budget. Votes on accounts of the ministries of higher education and highway, science, technology and research as well as skills development and vocational training are being taken up for discussion yesterday. Speaking at the debate state minister Dilan Perera said a programme to develop the entire road system of the country is now in progress.

Tenders have been called to develop the road from Badulla to Chankaladi. High road projects have been implemented in Northern and Eastern Provinces as well as in the Uva province and in two districts of the Western Province. State Minister Dilan Perera also added attention has been focused on completing the development activities of the road from Badulla to Kandy which has come to a standstill.
