Kotadeniyawa OIC Sujith Udaya Kumara was transferred to Kegalle Police under the orders of IGP NK Illangakone, three months after the controversial arrest of two individuals including a 17-year-old school boy.

The announcement was released today.

Accordingly, Weli-oya OIC W.D.D. Wickramasinghe has been appointed as Kotadeniyawa OIC. Meanwhile, Inspector of Police D.M.P. Dissanayake has been appointed as Weli-oya OIC.

The police recently said that disciplinary action will be taken against the Kotadeniyawa OIC, an Inspector and four other police personnel over the detaining of the two suspects in connection with the murder of a five-year-old girl in Kotadeniyawa.

Police said investigations revealed that the two suspects were held for two days illegally

Furthermore, it was also revealed that belongings of the suspects taken into custody have been misplaced.
