Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammed Mihal issued an arrest warrant on Kolonnawa Urban Council Chairman Ravindra Udayashantha and four others after failing to appear at the court for the Magisterial Inquiry on the alleged assault on protesters at Meetotamulla.

A protest was launched on December 27, 2015, over the dumping of garbage at Meetotamulla. The protesters launched a Satyagraha later that evening.

Several Satyagraha campaigners, including Attorney-at-Law Nuwan Bopage, were hospitalized the same night after an alleged attack by a group under Udayashantha.

Ravindra Udayashantha was arrested on December 30, 2015, over the assault of four Satyagraha campaigners at Meetotamulla. He was later released on bail on January 4.
