National Child Protection Services Authority Chairperson Dr. Natasha Balendra said that NCPA was considering on urging the government to amend laws to grants lengthier paternal leaves.

“Fathers of newborn babies are only given three days’ leave”, she said.

“Granting more leave for fathers will give them more time to spend with their children. The bond between a child and a father should be stronger”, Balendra stated.

She said the decision had been made with the purpose of strengthening the responsibility vested in fathers on their children.
