Sri Lanka Cricket Manager Jerry Woutersz arrived at the police Financial Crimes Investigation Division this morning to give a statement on an incident of alleged match fixing.
It was also learnt that Sri Lankan cricket captain Angelo Mathews sought more time to give his statement to the FCID probing into the allegations.
Mathews too was summoned before the Police FCID today to record his statement.
Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara complained to the FCID recently about offers of match fixing allegedly made by a bookmaker to Kusal Janith Perera and Rangana Herath.
Jayasekara recently claimed that Perera's refusal to entertain approaches by bookmakers could have played a part in him being involved in a doping scandal. "It could have been a conspiracy" Jayasekara argued.
Herath and Perera have also given statements regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that he is not in a position to officially confirm if Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews was summoned to the FCID.
