Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Parliamentarian and National Organizer of the Socialist Youth Union Bimal Rathnayake hit out at the Police yesterday, saying that the police fails to deliver justice to the ordinary citizens of Sri Lanka.

Speaking at a meeting in Galle, Rathnayake maintained that the this fact was evident from the different approaches of the police in the recent death of a youth in Embilipitiya and the abduction of a youth involving UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra.

The JVP has been consistently arguing that the police attempted to cover-up the death of the youth in Embilipitiya. Meanwhile, the police also obstructed the journalists covering the Magisterial Inquiry on the death.

The interim report of the internal investigation by police on this incident is expected to be handed over to the IGP tomorrow.
