Sri Lanka national cricket captain Angelo Mathews has been summoned to the police Financial Crimes Investigations Department on Monday to record a statement over an alleged incident involving an attempted match-fixing.
Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara complained to the FCID recently about offers of match fixing allegedly made by a bookmaker to Kusal Janith Perera and Rangana Herath.
Jayasekara recently claimed that Perera's refusal to entertain approaches by bookmakers could have played a part in him being involved in a doping scandal. "It could have been a conspiracy" Jayasekara argued.
Herath and Perera have also given statements regarding the incident.
