Former MP Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera, who was summoned by the CID to record a statement over the incident where an elephant calf was found inside his temple, was hospitalized yesterday at a private hospital.
The CID visited the hospital last evening, but had not recorded a statement by late last night.
The CID is conducting an investigation into the incident where a two-and-a-half-year-old elephant calf was discovered at the Alan Mathiniyarama in Polhengoda in January 2015. The Department of Wildlife Conservation officials had taken the elephant calf into custody. The baby elephant was not registered under the name of Dhammaloka Thera or the temple.
