Proposed amendments for Value Added Tax (VAT) and Nation Building Tax (NBT) in the new budget have been suspended, the Ministry of Finance said.

These amendments have been suspended until the proper legislative sanctions are approved in the parliament.

The amendments proposed to VAT and NBT in the 2016 budget came into effect from 1st January.

Furthermore, reports say that VAT on wholesale and retail trade has been halted as well.
