CID stated that Suresh Perera, the convener of the ‘Siyane’ Environment Protection Movement had given a 5-hour statement before them today, regarding Rathupaswala water issue and shootings.

Perera requested CID to look into the actions of Weliweriya police and whether they had not done their default duties. His statement also includes actions of a monk.

Perera gave his statement before CID from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

“Government had not given any solution for Rathupaswala drinking water issue. All the officers who were in duty are responsible for lost lives. This is no mere issue about drinking water but a problem of Rathupaswala people’s lives. Resolve this problem”, Perera stated.

Perera also mentioned that certain parties had betrayed the struggle for money and privileges.
