Road 'Safety'

This is near a bend between Bellanwila and Boralesgamuwa on Dehiwela-Maharagama Road. The road has been damaged for a few days and this is the only warning you would see. Motorists end up in difficulty, especially at night, since this is not properly visible. One wonders if road safety manuals have removed the use of red colored lanterns.

The report on the Welikada prison riot was handed over to the Prime Minister at the Parliamentary Complex last evening.

A three member committee was appointed to investigate the 2012 riot after the new government was elected. The committee was headed by former High Court Judge Wimal Nambuwasam. Other members were retired Deputy IGP Ashoka Wijethilake and retired Administrative Officer and Lawyer S. K. Liyanage.
