UPFA Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa said his family members could not even visit a friend without being harassed by security forces.
“Police even raid houses of our friends acting on so called tip-offs. But, nothing has been found so far,” Rakapaksa said.
The Parliamentarian said his family is being subjected to unnecessary harassment by various parties after the presidential election. He also added that Police had not taken action against those who lodged false complaints against the Rajapaksa family.
Speaking to reporters after the police raided the Carlton house, the elder son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said ‘it is disappointing to see the way certain parties treat the leader who freed this country from the three decades of terror’.
The police yesterday (19) searched the Carlton premises for a ‘sea plane’ and ‘tyres of a Lamborghini’ after obtaining a search warrant. However Police Media Spokesman ASP Ajith Rohana told media that no such evidence were found at the premises.
“It is clear that certain parties are using this situation to degrade the Rajapksa’s and as a result these parties are making blind accusations in desperation to frame us for crimes we did not commit”, the Parliamentarian said.
Expressing his disappointment on the raid of Carlton premises, Namal Rajapaksa said that neither him nor his father was present at the time of the search and that the serch was conducted without their consent.
