Minister of Food Security Gamini Jayawickrama has requested the police to seal ‘Sathosa’ head office immediately.
The Minister has reportedly taken the decision due to some irregularities which he found out after initial investigations. The Minister had reportedly conducted inquiries soon after he assumed duties at the new Ministry.
The Minister, while speaking to reporters on the matter, remarked that the responsible parties would even try to destroy the ‘incriminating evidence’.
'Sathosa' came under the purview of former Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando who was known as a close associate of former President Rajapaksa.
it was widely alleged that there were numerous financial irregularities at 'Sathosa' that took place with the knowledge of the Minister.
The new Minister said he would look into each and every allegation and take action against perpetrators.
