The new Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne yesterday vowed that the new government will introduce the National Pharmaceutical Policy Act during the 100 Days Program.
He made this comment yesterday when he assumed duties in his new post.
He added that even though there has been discussion on such an Act for years, it was only during the tenure of current president Maithripala Sirisena's tenure as the Health Minister that some progress was made on that.
The draft bill which was prepared during his tenure mysteriously disappeared when the former government was in power.
The National Pharmaceutical Policy Act is one of the few crucial legislation to be introduced under the 100 Days Program. It is expected to be tabled at the Parliament on March 18.
