A tragic road accident near the Vasanthanagar junction in Mankulam, Northern Province, has left a 39-year-old Army Soldier dead and nine others injured. The incident occurred early this morning when a lorry traveling from Mankulam to Kilinochchi collided with a pickup truck transporting a group of Army personnel.

Reports indicate that one Army soldier, riding in the back of the pickup truck, was thrown onto the lorry behind during the collision and succumbed to injuries upon arrival at the Killinochchi Hospital. The deceased soldier, a resident of Galgamuwa and an officer stationed at the Murrukkandy Camp, has been identified.

Meanwhile, the nine injured Army personnel are currently receiving medical treatment at the Kilinochchi Hospital. Authorities have apprehended the lorry driver in connection with the accident, and investigations are ongoing under the supervision of the Mankulam Police.
