Grama Niladhari officers across the nation have initiated a trade union action, announcing a two-day sick leave protest beginning today (06) and continuing through tomorrow (07). The All-Island Grama Niladhari Officers’ Association has confirmed the widespread participation in this collective action, citing a list of grievances.
Mr. Jagath Chandralal, the General Secretary of the association, emphasized that the decision has received unanimous backing from all unions representing Grama Niladhari Officers.
Chandralal warned of further measures if the government fails to address their concerns during the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
