The Sri Lankan government has launched a concessionary vehicle import permit program aimed at retired government and judicial officials.
Eligible participants include retired government and provincial officials, as well as judicial officials. Those aged 60 or older, or who were retired involuntarily without extension, qualify for reduced duty rates on vehicle imports under this initiative.
The decision was made during a recent Cabinet meeting on March 11.
Additionally, there has been lobbying from parliamentarians and ministers to extend duty-free vehicle importation privileges to themselves as well.
