A 31-year-old Excise officer from Wariyapola has been remanded after sharing a distorted rendition of Rohana Beddage’s “Soorya Mangalya New Year" song on social media.

The suspect's actions led to his arrest, and he faced legal action in court.

The individual was apprehended yesterday following complaints about the altered version of the song circulating online.

Today, during a hearing at the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court, the suspect was remanded until April 22.
