Former UNP MP and Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma has passed away. 

Theearapperuma was 64 at the time of his sudden passing. 

According to family sources, he died after being electrocuted. Thewarapperuma contested the last Parliamentary election for Kalutara District under the UNP ticket but failed to secure his seat.
