SLTB Reports Surge in Daily Revenue by Rs. 25 Million Amid Festive Season

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has announced a significant uptick in its daily revenue, amounting to approximately Rs. 25 million, attributed to the special bus services rolled out for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities.

Commencing operations on April 5th, the SLTB mobilized an additional fleet of 200 buses to cater to the surge in travelers returning to their hometowns for the holiday season. Deputy General Manager of the SLTB, Panduka Swarnahansa, confirmed the substantial increase in daily income over the past days.

Despite the revenue boost, commuters voiced grievances over the scarcity of long-distance buses available to accommodate the influx of passengers adequately.

Concurrently, the Road Development Authority (RDA) reported a 10% rise in revenue from expressways during the festive period, anticipating further growth until April 15th.
