Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Ministers has greenlit the initiation of diplomatic ties with the Republic of Chad, a significant move aimed at fostering cooperation between the two nations.
The decision, made during Monday's Cabinet meeting, comes as Chad has shown willingness to collaborate with Sri Lanka in various international platforms, including the United Nations.
With this approval, Sri Lanka's diplomatic network in Africa expands to encompass relations with 46 countries on the continent.
The proposal, championed by Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry, underscores Sri Lanka's commitment to enhancing its global engagement and partnerships.
