National People's Power leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has publicly expressed his eagerness to engage in a debate with Sajith Premadasa, confirming this during an inquiry by News First. Dissanayake highlighted that Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa would oversee the coordination of this significant event.In extending the invitation, Dissanayake's team awaits the nomination of a representative from Sajith Premadasa's camp to facilitate and prepare for the debate.
Meanwhile, Sunil Handunnetti has stepped up to accept the challenge posed by the National People's Power's Economic Council for an economic policy debate. However, Handunnetti underscored the importance of a direct confrontation between the two presidential candidates.In response, Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has also embraced the invitation for a debate. Premadasa clarified, in a statement to News First, that his Samagi Jana Balavegaya party is in the process of appointing a coordinator for the debate. He assured that necessary arrangements would be made without complications as the event approaches.
