Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has dismissed speculation surrounding his son Namal Rajapaksa's potential bid for the presidency, stating that Namal is not yet prepared for such a role.

Rajapaksa emphasized that Namal, recently appointed as the National Organiser of the SLPP, requires more time to gain experience.
He affirmed that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will nominate a candidate for the upcoming presidential election, but the party has yet to reach a decision on who that candidate will be.
Rajapaksa indicated that the matter will be discussed within the party at an appropriate juncture.
