In a significant crackdown on organized crime, twelve additional suspected members of underworld gangs were apprehended yesterday as part of a special operation by law enforcement authorities.
Alongside the twelve arrests, six more individuals were detained during the raid. This operation, initiated under the 'Yukthiya' initiative, was prompted by a surge in organized criminal activities across the Western and Southern Provinces. Launched last Tuesday, the operation targeted 20 identified criminal gangs nationwide. With these recent arrests, the total tally stands at 63 underworld gang members apprehended thus far.
All detainees are currently undergoing questioning under detention orders.
