Opposition Members of Parliament Mano Ganesan and Kavinda Jayawardene have called for the urgent arrest of former President Maithripala Sirisena following his recent statement claiming knowledge of the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attacks.
In a press briefing today, MP Ganesan emphasized the need for police interrogation, stating, "The former President should be questioned immediately." He further emphasized the global interest in uncovering the truth behind the attacks and urged Sirisena to disclose all relevant information.
Echoing these sentiments, MP Kavinda Jayawardene revealed that a formal complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Sirisena. "We demand the immediate arrest of the former President and his subsequent appearance before the courts," he asserted. The MPs also highlighted their discussions with church leaders in Sri Lanka, underlining the gravity of the issue and the imperative for accountability.
