Thailand Agrees to Aid Repatriation of Sri Lankans Rescued from Myanmar Cyber Slave Camp

Thailand has agreed to assist in the repatriation of Sri Lankan nationals rescued from a cyber slave camp in Myanmar.

Following a request from Sri Lanka's Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry, Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, has agreed to facilitate the repatriation process.

Currently, eight Sri Lankans under Myanmar government protection in Myawaddy are being provided with necessary assistance, coordinated by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Yangon. Efforts are underway to ensure their safe return, with both Sri Lankan embassies in Yangon and Bangkok collaborating closely.

Additionally, the telephone discussions between the ministers included the early implementation of the Sri Lanka-Thailand Free Trade Agreement and reciprocal visa-free arrangements, along with cooperation in renewable energy and fisheries sectors.
