Big onion importers have settled on a price range of Rs. 450 to Rs. 500 per unit after discussions with Trade Minister Nalin Fernando.
The dialogue, held yesterday at the Ministry, brought together essential goods importers and Minister Fernando to address concerns regarding supply and pricing of crucial commodities.
Minister Fernando expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that importers had committed to providing their stocks to the local market at competitive rates. Notably, importers highlighted limitations imposed by Pakistan on big onion imports but assured readiness to source from alternative markets like Holland and Turkey to maintain supply during the festive period.
Additionally, the Minister announced plans to reduce the price of milk powder by Rs. 150 per kilo, emphasizing swift action to ensure consumers benefit from this adjustment promptly.
