Top professional Kavan Ratnayaka has been appointed as the Chairman of the State-run Bank of Ceylon (BOC). The announcement was made today by the bank, signaling a transition in leadership. According to a filing to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), Ratnayaka will assume his duties starting from tomorrow, March 14th. He succeeds Ronald C Perera, PC, who recently stepped down from the position.
Ratnayaka brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served in key leadership roles. Notably, he held the chairmanship of prominent institutions such as the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, and the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon (Lake House). His professional journey also includes pivotal roles as the Country General Manager of IBM Sri Lanka, Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Broadband, and the Chief Corporate Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC.
An alumnus of Royal College, Ratnayaka's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of California. With his diverse expertise and leadership acumen, Ratnayaka's appointment is poised to shape the future trajectory of the Bank of Ceylon.
