A husband and wife were discovered deceased in a murder-suicide at a guest house located in Pothuvil. According to official police statements, the man allegedly fatally stabbed his wife before taking his own life by hanging inside a room at the guest house.

The couple had been lodging at the establishment situated in Arugam Bay.

Concern arose when the manager of the guest house noticed their prolonged absence, prompting notification to the authorities. Upon entry into the room, the lifeless body of the woman was found lying in a pool of blood, while the man was discovered deceased by hanging in the bathroom.

Identified as a 35-year-old woman from Mahakalugolla and a 51-year-old man from Puthivil, the deceased individuals' identities have been confirmed by police. Investigations into this incident are currently underway, being conducted by the officers of the Puthivil Police.
