During a recent program in the Thalduwa area, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya revealed that 92% of the sanitary pads required in the country are locally produced and are not subject to any tax.
Siyambalapitiya emphasized that this measure aims to support domestic producers.
The remaining 8% of imported sanitary pads are treated as manufactured goods, with a 22.5% tax imposed solely for protecting local producers.
