Colombo High Court Rejects Keheliya Rambukwella's Objections in GI Pipes Case

The Colombo High Court has dismissed former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella's preliminary objections in the GI pipes case.

Judge Nawaratne Marasinghe announced the decision, scheduling the trial for April 4.

The case revolves around allegations of causing unlawful loss to the government by purchasing GI pipes with funds from the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation during the 2015 Presidential Election.

The Bribery Commission has indicted Rambukwella and two others, former SLRC Director General Chandrapala Liyanage and former SLRC Chairman Wimal Rubasinghe, under Section 70 of the Bribery Act.

The Commission asserts that the accused incurred a loss of Rs. 990,000 to the SLRC through the unnecessary purchase of 600 lengths of GI pipes in December 2014.
