A discussion concerning the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout programme is set to take place today at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
The meeting will involve officials from the IMF along with government and opposition representatives.
Notably, opposition leader Sajith Premadasa and National People’s Power leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake have declined participation, while the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will join the discussion.
Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe clarified that the opposition's presence was intended to incorporate diverse perspectives on IMF policies. However, SJB MP Dr. Harsha De Silva highlighted that the focus should be on discussions with creditors rather than with IMF representatives.
