Tensions Between Ranil and SLPP: SLPP Raises Concerns Over President's Direct Dealings with MPs

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has expressed renewed concerns regarding President Ranil Wickremesinghe's direct interactions with individual MPs, bypassing the party's established hierarchy.

These concerns were reiterated during a recent meeting between the President and SLPP leaders Mahinda Rajapaksa and Basil Rajapaksa.

The party highlighted its unease amidst reports of certain MPs and electoral organizers aligning themselves with the President, despite the party's stance.

Notably, a faction of SLPP MPs, including Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga, openly supports the President's candidacy for the upcoming presidential election.

However, the SLPP is yet to make a formal decision regarding its support for the President, despite indications suggesting otherwise. This isn't the first time the SLPP has raised such concerns, signaling ongoing tensions within the party regarding the President's approach.
