Former Kalpitiya Police Officer-in-Charge (OIC) has been remanded over allegations of sexual assault against a female police constable.

The Puttalam Magistrate's Court extended the suspect's remand until March 12, citing concerns under the Victims Protection Act, following accusations of threatening and influencing the complainant.

The suspect, previously interdicted from service by the National Police Commission, faces legal scrutiny after an investigation launched by the Kuliyapitiya Division Senior Superintendent of Police.

Despite earlier bail, the suspect's remand was prolonged due to alleged intimidation of the victim to retract the complaint.
