Electricity Tariffs Possibly Reduced in May, Says Government

State Minister of Power and Energy, Indika Anuruddha Herath, hinted at a potential reduction in electricity tariffs for May during a media briefing at the President's Media Center on Tuesday (30).

He mentioned that data, including costs from each power plant, would be submitted to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) for review. This move comes as the government anticipates providing concessions to citizens, leveraging the additional 120MW contributed to the power grid through the Uma Oya Multi-Purpose Development project.
Minister Herath emphasized transparency in the process, inviting individuals to scrutinize and calculate the impact themselves.
