President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed two new Governors to key provinces in Sri Lanka.

Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has been sworn in as the Governor of the Southern Province, succeeding his previous role as Governor of the North Western Province. Meanwhile, former Environment Minister Nazeer Ahamed has been appointed as the Governor of the North Western Province.
Ahamed's appointment follows his removal from the Ministry of Environment and loss of parliamentary seat due to legal rulings against him.

Both Abeywardena and Ahamed took their oaths before President Wickremesinghe today.
