Imran Khan's Party Leads in Pakistan Election, Falling Short of Majority

February 10, 2024

In an unexpected turn of events, Imran Khan's Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party appears to be securing the largest number of seats in Pakistan's parliament, according to reports from Pakistani media. However, despite this lead, the party falls short of achieving an absolute majority.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently serving jail time, delivered a victory speech generated by artificial intelligence from his prison cell. The latest tally on Saturday morning indicated that PTI-linked independent candidates had clinched 99 out of the 266 seats, while Shariff's Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) secured 71 seats, and Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party (PPP) obtained 53 seats. A majority in the parliament would require 133 seats, leaving the PTI just shy of the mark.
