Sacred relics brought from Ven. Dhammaratana Nayaka Thera chief incumbent of Mihintale Rajamaha Viharaya Sri Lanka by Ven. Chandrarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of International Buddhist Centre Le Bourget in France were handed over to the Ven. Somdet Maha Chanty chief incumbent of Veluvanarama Buddhist temple of Laos at Boussy Saint Georges in France, at a special ceremony held on 30th July 2022.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the French Republic & Permanent Delegate to UNESCO said that the handing over of the most sacred relics from Sri Lanka will further strengthen the existing Buddhist and cultural relations between the two friendly nations. Further, the Ambassador said that Sri Lanka will give every help to the teachings of Gauthama Buddha all over the world, bringing peace and serenity to humanity.
Ven. Chandrarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of the International Buddhist Centre in Paris observed that the handing over the Sacred relics from Mininthale Rajamaha Viharaya, Sri Lanka to Veluvanarama Buddhist temple of Laos will be a historic event and it will further strengthen the Buddhist and cultural linkage between the two countries.
Chief Incumbent of the Veluvanarama Buddhist temple of Laos thanked the Government of Sri Lanka for providing the most sacred relics and assured that Laos devotees are eagerly waiting to worship the Sacred relics.
Buddhist monks from both Sri Lanka Buddhist Centre and Veluvanarama Buddhist temple of Laos as well as Lao devotees attended the event.
