Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said everyone in the current government would be in jail if he was given the Law and Order Ministry.
Speaking to the media after an event in Kelaniya, Fonseka said the President first held discussions with him on taking over the government. However, he added that the President was not interested in the plans he presented about the way forward.
"Then the current Prime Minister accepted the premiership without any such demands," Fonseka added.
The former Army Commander said that the current Prime Minister had no plans to take the country forward.
"We don't need a Prime Minister to issue warnings from time to time. We need a Prime Minister who gives solutions," he said.
